The Eagle Has Landed
The Eagle Has Landed
The Eagle Has Landed, American Bald Eagle, Foothills of the Smokies.
The story behind the image:
The Eagle Has Landed captures a female bald eagle landing on a tree limb above her nest. I photographed this eagle and her mate for several years. I found a spot on a bluff where I had a vantage point above the nest. I was able to photograph the pair as they raised their offspring from eggs to fledglings. It was fascinating to watch them refurbish the nest each year and incubate their eggs in the cold of winter. Watching the eaglets hatch was also amazing. Regrettably, the nest eventually became so large that a supporting tree limb gave way, and the pair had to move to a new location.
The goal of my photography is to capture a moment in time, and to share with the viewer the beauty that I observed. My images are single images. I use a program called Lightroom to process my RAW image to prepare them for printing. The image is then printed in the USA on metal or archival quality professional photo paper which is mounted and coated for durability.
