Carter Shields Cabin Autumn Snow
Carter Shields Cabin Autumn Snow
Carter Shields Cabin Autumn Snow captures a favorite Cades Cove cabin with both autumn colors and a dusting of snow.
The story behind the image:
The Carter Shields cabin is named after George Washington "Carter" Shields a Civil War veteran. After the war he moved to Kansas. In 1906 Shields returned to Cades Cove and bought the property in 1910. His residence in the Cove was short lived as he left again after only 11 years. [Reference: Brewer, Carson. Autumn in the Smoky Mountains can be unpredictable. The Fall colors are impacted by how much rainfall is received in the late summer, the right temperatures, and wind. However, when everything lines up right the colorful display is magical. Even more magical is when a dusting of snow highlights the fall colors as in this image.
The goal of my photography is to capture a moment in time, and to share with the viewer the beauty that I observed. My images are single images. I use a program called Lightroom to process my RAW image to prepare them for printing. The image is then printed in the USA on metal or archival quality professional photo paper which is mounted and coated for durability. All images are copyright protected and reproduction in any format is strictly prohibited.
